Empress announces season
change and auditions
Due to availability issues The Empress Theatre, located
in historic downtown Magna has had to make a change
to their upcoming 2010 season.
They have switched
the productions of Footloose The Musical
and Annie. The 2010 season will now
be:
The
Odd Couple will open on January 22nd
and continue through February 13th. This Neil Simon
classic is an audience favorite. The Show tells the
story of Oscar and Felix and their trials and tribulations
as they start a new life as single men.
Footloose
the Musical will open on March
5th and continue through April 10th. This show, based
on the Kevin Bacon movie has become another Wasatch
front favorite.
One Acts Festival On April 15, 16, 17, the Empress will continue its tradition
of presenting a one act play festival written by local
High School students.
Nunsense
will open on April 30th and continue through May 29th.
The sisters of little Hoboken invade Magna, in their
attempts to bury their dearly departed sisters.
Annie will open on June 11th and continue through July 23rd.
This musical retelling of the little orphan Annie comic
strip has become one of the Wasatch front’s most
often performed shows.
High
School Musical Jr. will be
the Empress’ children’s show and will feature
a cast of children from 12 to 18. It will open on August
6th and continue through August 21st.
Damn Yankees will open on September 10th and continue through October
16th. This classic play based on the novel “The
year the Yankees lost the pennant is one our audiences
have frequently requested.
Little Women will open on November 5th and continue
through November 27th. This musical retelling of the
Louisa May Alcott novel starred Sutton Foster and Maureen
McGovern on Broadway.
Christmas Show
Not included in the regular season will be a special
Christmas show that will open on December 3 and run
through December 22.
